Microphone access
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and enable Le Caption. Quit and reopen the app after changing permission.
Apple on-device engine
The Apple speech engine requires macOS 26 or newer and a downloaded speech model for the selected source language. Open Settings → General → Translation engine to manage Apple language assets.
Voxtral on-device engine
Voxtral requires Apple Silicon, macOS 15 or newer, and several gigabytes of free disk space. Keep Le Caption open while the model downloads. You can retry or delete the model from Settings.
Gradium cloud engine
Gradium requires a valid API key and an internet connection. Save the key in Settings, activate Gradium, then retry captions. The key is stored in macOS Keychain.
Caption display
Use Settings → Captions → Preview on Screen to confirm the selected display, size, position, and contrast before presenting.
Diagnostic report
Open Le Caption Diagnostics from the menu-bar item and choose Export logs. Reports redact the API key and never include microphone audio.
