Le Caption
Privacy Policy

Le Caption turns microphone audio into live translated captions. It does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.
On-device translation
When you choose Apple or Voxtral, microphone audio and caption text are processed on your Mac. Le Caption does not upload or store that audio or text.
Optional Gradium translation
If you explicitly choose Gradium, Le Caption sends live microphone audio and your Gradium API key to Gradium over an encrypted connection to produce captions in real time. Le Caption does not retain the audio or returned captions. Gradium publicly describes its API as using zero data retention. Gradium’s own terms and privacy practices also apply to your use of its service.
Voxtral model downloads
If you choose Voxtral, the app downloads model files from Hugging Face. The files are cached locally inside Le Caption’s storage and can be deleted from the app. Hugging Face receives the ordinary network information required to serve the download; Le Caption does not receive that information.
Settings and credentials
Your settings are stored locally. In the Mac App Store edition they stay inside the app’s sandbox container. A Gradium API key is stored in macOS Keychain and is only sent to Gradium when you use that engine.
Diagnostics
Operational diagnostics remain on your Mac and exclude microphone audio and API keys. Le Caption only writes a diagnostic report outside its container when you choose a destination in the system save panel.
Retention, deletion, and choices
Le Caption has no developer-operated account or server database. You can remove a Gradium key and downloaded Voxtral model from Settings. Deleting the app and its local container removes the Store edition’s settings. You can avoid all third-party audio processing by using an on-device engine.
App Store services
Apple may process App Store downloads, transactions, and diagnostics independently under Apple’s privacy policy. Le Caption does not receive personally identifying App Store purchase data.
